Description
The Cube Overhead Shower Arm Swivel is a square profile wall arm for a fixed overhead shower, with one difference from a standard arm: a swivel joint at the wall flange. Once the arm is fitted and the tiles are finished, the head can still be angled up, down or sideways to put the spray where you want it. That makes it a practical choice for a recess where the outlet is not perfectly centred, or where two people of different heights share a shower.
The body is a 15 x 30mm rectangular brass tube with a square 54 x 60mm wall flange, so it lines up with square tapware, square rain heads and grid tiled walls. It is about 318mm long and projects up to about 286mm from the wall depending on the swivel angle. Both ends carry the standard G1/2 inch thread and it is offered in Chrome and Matte Black.

Fixed arm or swivel arm
A fixed shower arm holds the head at one angle for good. That is fine when the outlet is centred in the recess and the head is a modest size, and it gives the tidiest look with nothing to work loose. A swivel arm adds a joint at the wall so the head can be pointed after the fact. It earns its place in three situations: an outlet that ends up off centre after tiling, a very wide head that needs fine aiming, or a household where a tall and a short person both want the spray to land on them rather than on the wall behind.
The trade off is a small joint that needs to be firm. Tighten the swivel so it holds under the weight of a full rain head, and match the arm finish to the head and mixer. Matte Black arms suit black heads and black wall mixers; Chrome suits chrome. Use plumber’s tape on both threads and check for drips at the flange before the final grout and silicone.
