Outlets

Outlets covers the spouts and wall outlets that deliver the water once a mixer or set of taps has done its job — bath spouts, wall spouts for basins, and floor-mounted spouts for freestanding baths. They are usually the last part chosen and the part most often mismatched. QA Bathroom Warehouse stocks more than 20 outlets at our Malaga warehouse in Perth.

Types of outlet
A wall spout pairs with a wall basin or bath mixer or with a set of wall top assemblies, and keeps the benchtop clear. A bath spout does the same job over the tub, and swivel versions let you turn the spout aside when filling or cleaning. Floor-standing spouts rise from the floor beside a freestanding bath where there is no wall to mount to, and need the plumbing set into the slab before tiling.

Projection and height
Projection is the measurement that matters. Over a basin, the water should land near the centre of the bowl rather than against the back — measure from the finished wall to the middle of the bowl. Over a bath, the spout needs enough reach to clear the rim so water does not run down the outside of the tub, and enough height above the rim to meet backflow requirements. Both are easier to get right before the wall is closed up than after.
