When you need one
Any twin shower setup needs a diverter. So does an overhead rose paired with a separate hand shower on a rail, which is the arrangement most families end up wanting: the overhead for everyday use and the handheld for children, pets and cleaning the recess. If you only have one outlet, a plain shower mixer is all you need.
Two-way and three-way
A two-way diverter switches between two outlets. Three-way units add a third, typically a bath spout in a combined bath and shower. Check how many outlets you are running before ordering, and confirm the body depth suits your wall build-up.
