Why choose a wall set
With nothing mounted on the bench there is no tap base to clean around, which is the part of a standard mixer that collects grime. It also suits above counter bowls, where a bench-mounted tap would struggle to clear the rim, and stone tops where you would rather not cut tap holes.
Getting the setout right
This is the one fitting where planning cannot be left until late. The spout projection has to reach past the bowl rim so water lands near the centre, and the height above the bowl decides how much it splashes. Both are set when the plumbing is roughed in, before tiling. Take the basin dimensions to your plumber rather than guessing.
