The Pop Down® mechanism The Pop Down® is Art’s patented plug and waste. Where a conventional pop-up waste relies on a linkage running back to a lift rod behind the tap — the part that eventually seizes, corrodes or comes loose inside the wall — the Pop Down® works from the top and has no internal bars at all. It is self-lubricating and anti-jam by design, and the plug lifts straight out so you can clear hair and soap from the waste without pulling anything apart. Art backs the mechanism with a lifetime warranty.

Choosing the right waste The two things to check are the size and whether your fixture has an overflow. A basin or bath with an overflow needs a waste designed to pass water through it; fitting a non-overflow waste to an overflow fixture will not seal correctly. Measure the waste hole rather than assuming, since 32mm and 40mm both appear in Australian basins. If you are replacing a failed pop-up rather than fitting new, this is a good moment to move away from the linkage design altogether.
