A bath is a long-term fitting and a large object, so the size and the way it is installed matter as much as the shape. QA Bathroom Warehouse stocks 46 baths and spa baths at our Malaga warehouse in Perth.
Bath types
Freestanding Baths stand clear of the walls and work as the centrepiece of a larger bathroom. They need floor space on all sides and usually a floor-mounted or wall-mounted filler rather than a rim-mounted tap. Inset Baths drop into a tiled or built-in surround, use the space efficiently, and are the practical choice for a family bathroom or a smaller room. Spa Baths add jets and need a power supply and access to the pump for servicing, so plan an access panel in.
Measuring and access
Check the internal length rather than the external, since that is what determines whether the bath is comfortable to lie in. Confirm the bath will physically get through the doorway and down the hallway before you order, which catches people out with 1700mm freestanding models. Weight matters on upper floors once the bath is full.
Filling it
Freestanding baths generally pair with a floor standing bath mixer or a wall spout. Inset baths can use a rim-mounted set or a wall outlet.
