Why choose wall hung
Clearing the floor under the cabinet makes a small bathroom look larger and removes the grime trap along the kickboard, which is the part of a floor standing unit people get tired of cleaning. It also lets you set the bench height to suit the household rather than accepting a fixed 850mm.
What it requires
A wall hung unit needs solid noggings behind the plasterboard and the water and waste set at the right height before tiling. That makes it straightforward in a full renovation and awkward as a like-for-like swap, so confirm your plumbing position before ordering. Weight matters too, particularly with a stone top and a full drawer of contents, so the fixing needs to be into timber or steel rather than plasterboard anchors.
Sizes and layout
600mm and 750mm cover most ensuites and main bathrooms. 900mm and 1200mm give a more generous bench, and 1500mm upwards is where a double bowl starts to work properly. Drawers are more usable than doors in a bathroom, and soft-close runners are worth having on anything you open daily.
