Concrete Basins

Concrete basins bring a depth of colour and a surface texture that ceramic cannot reproduce. Each one is cast rather than moulded, so no two are identical, and they suit a bathroom where the basin is meant to be the thing you notice. What you are getting
These are handmade pieces. Slight variation in tone and surface between one basin and the next is inherent to the material, not a defect — it is the reason people choose concrete over a uniform gloss finish. The colour runs through the material rather than sitting on top as a glaze, so edges and rims read as solid rather than coated.

Weight and mounting
Concrete is considerably heavier than ceramic. A surface-mounted bowl needs a benchtop and cabinet rated to carry it, and a wall-hung basin needs proper noggings set into the wall before lining — this is not something to work out at installation. Confirm the weight against your cabinet before ordering, and let your builder know early if the basin is wall mounted.

Looking after it
Sealed concrete handles daily bathroom use without trouble, but it is not as chemically indifferent as glazed ceramic. Skip abrasive creams and anything strongly acidic — a mild soap and a soft cloth is all it needs. Re-sealing every few years keeps the surface even.
