Rail Showers

A rail shower puts the head on a vertical slide rail so the height adjusts to whoever is using it, and detaches for rinsing down the shower, the kids or the dog. Why a rail
A fixed head is set once and suits one height. A rail suits a household where people are different heights, and it makes cleaning the shower itself far easier — the enclosure gets rinsed properly instead of wiped. For a family bathroom, a rail shower is usually the better buy over a fixed overhead at the same price.

What to check
Rail length decides how much adjustment you actually get, so a longer rail is worth having if heights vary. Check the hose length too, particularly if you will be using it to rinse down a bath. The bracket needs to grip firmly at any point on the rail rather than sliding under the weight of the handpiece, which is where cheap rail showers give themselves away. Mounting also matters: fixing into tile over a stud is straightforward, but a rail landing on a hollow section needs backing behind it.
