Shower Heads

The shower head decides how the shower actually feels, and it is the cheapest part of the bathroom to change your mind about. Where the rest of the room is fixed by tiling and plumbing, a head and arm can be swapped in an afternoon. QA Bathroom Warehouse stocks more than 20 shower heads at our Malaga warehouse in Perth.

Size and spray
Larger roses give a softer, wider fall and look impressive, but they divide the same flow across more holes, so they need good pressure behind them to feel right. If your pressure is modest, a smaller rose will give a stronger, more satisfying shower than a large one. Some heads offer multiple spray patterns, which is genuinely useful in a shared bathroom and largely ignored in an ensuite that one person uses.

Keeping it working
Perth water leaves mineral deposits, and blocked nozzles are the most common reason a shower goes from good to disappointing. Heads with flexible silicone nozzles let you rub the build-up off with a thumb, and self-cleaning models handle it themselves. It is a small feature that makes a real difference over a few years here.

Wall or ceiling
Wall-mounted heads fit the existing outlet and are the straightforward replacement. Ceiling-mounted roses give a straight overhead drop with nothing on the wall, but the plumbing has to be run above, so they need to be planned into a renovation. Either way, check the shower arm length so the head sits over you rather than against the wall.
