Sink accessories are the fittings that decide how well a sink actually works day to day — the drainer that keeps the bench clear, the grid that stops a pot chipping the base, the roll mat that turns half the sink into working surface. Sink roll mats
A roll mat lays across the sink to give you a draining surface where there is no drainer board, then rolls up and puts away. It is the most useful accessory in a small kitchen or a butler’s pantry, where bench space runs out long before storage does. Stainless and silicone versions both drain straight into the bowl.
Drainer grids and baskets
A grid sits in the bottom of the bowl and takes the impact of pots and pans, which protects the sink base and stops water pooling under whatever is soaking. It matters most in a stainless sink, where the base picks up scratches, and in a granite one, where a dropped pan can chip. Check the grid against your sink’s internal dimensions — a grid that does not sit flat is worse than none.
Matching your sink
Most accessories are made to suit specific bowl sizes, so measure the internal length and width of your bowl rather than the cut-out. If your sink came with an accessory pack, adding to it from the same range keeps everything sitting correctly.
