It sits on top of a vanity or stone benchtop rather than recessed into it, so the bowl reads as a feature rather than disappearing into the bench. No tap hole is drilled, which leaves you free to run a tall basin mixer on the bench or a wall mounted mixer behind. Takes a standard 32mm pop up waste, sold separately.
Description
The Oval Above Counter Basin is a gloss white vitreous china basin designed to sit on top of a vanity surface or stone benchtop rather than recessed below it. The 455 x 320mm footprint and 135mm overall height give it a low, neat profile that works on standard 460 to 500mm deep vanity tops without crowding the front edge, a common problem with deeper vessel basins.
The oval form softens the hard lines of a rectangular vanity and a square mirror, which is why it suits coastal, Hamptons and contemporary bathrooms as readily as a minimalist ensuite. Gloss white ceramic keeps it neutral against any tapware finish you choose.

About above counter basins
Above counter basins, also called vessel basins, sit fully on top of the vanity benchtop with the bowl exposed above the surface. They read as a deliberate object rather than a hole in the bench, which is why they suit modern, coastal and contemporary bathrooms where the basin is meant to be part of the design rather than disappear into it.
The trade off is height. An above counter basin adds its full height on top of the bench, so a standard 900mm vanity plus a 135mm basin puts the rim just over a metre off the floor. That is comfortable for most adults and awkward for small children, so it is worth thinking about who uses the room. Tapware has to clear the rim too: a tall basin mixer or a wall mounted mixer, not a standard hob mixer.
Gloss white ceramic remains the most versatile finish. It works against chrome, matte black, brushed nickel, brushed gold and gunmetal tapware without argument, it stays bright under both warm and cool bathroom lighting, and it shows water marks less than a matte glaze. Pair the basin with a 32mm pop up waste in the same finish as the tapware to tie the install together.
