This Metlam Click-Lock Drop Down Grab Rail with Toilet Roll Holder has a peened grip section, a textured, slip-resistant surface that gives extra grip for wet hands. It is made from grade 304 stainless steel with 32mm x 1.2mm tubing and measures 300mmH x 100mmW x 812mmD. The click-lock system stops the rail sliding down, it stores upright when not in use and holds one standard roll. Universal for left or right hand installation, surface mounted with visible fixings. GST-free as a disability aid.

Description

Hands are often damp after washing, and a smooth rail can be hard to hold firmly. This version of the Metlam Click-Lock Drop Down Grab Rail with Toilet Roll Holder adds a peened grip section to the rail, giving a textured surface that improves grip. It folds up against the wall when not in use and drops down beside the toilet when support is needed, with the toilet roll carried on the rail within easy reach. It is a practical choice for accessible toilets in aged care, hospitals, rehabilitation settings and public washrooms.

The unit is made from grade 304 stainless steel with 32mm diameter, 1.2mm wall tubing and seamless welds. The finish is satin stainless steel with a peened grip section. A click-lock system stops the rail sliding down, and the universal design suits left or right hand installation. It is surface mounted with visible fixings.

Choosing a grab rail

Grab rails give support where people sit, stand and turn: beside the toilet, inside the shower and next to the bath. Straight rails suit ambulant cubicles, showers and general support. 90 degree rails combine a horizontal and a vertical grip for sitting down and getting up. Drop down rails fold out of the way so an accessible toilet stays clear for wheelchair transfers. Accessible and ambulant toilets in Australian public and commercial buildings are designed to AS 1428.1, which sets rail positions, a 30 to 40mm tube diameter and the gap between rail and wall.

Fixing matters as much as the rail. Concealed-fix flanges hide the screws for a neater, tamper-resistant finish, and every rail must go into studs, noggins or solid masonry that can carry the load. Satin stainless steel is the hard-wearing standard for hospitals, aged care, schools and offices; matte black suits homes and boutique commercial fit-outs where the rail should look like part of the design.
