A rectangular undermount basin from QA Bathroom Warehouse in gloss white ceramic, 445 x 330mm externally with a 405 x 280mm bowl and 175mm depth. It fixes beneath a stone or solid surface vanity top so no rim sits proud of the bench, leaving an unbroken surface you can wipe straight into the bowl. Tapware mounts on the stone behind or on the wall. Takes a standard 32mm pop up waste, sold separately.

Description

The Rectangular Undermount Basin is a gloss white ceramic basin that fixes beneath the vanity top rather than sitting in or on it. The external dimensions are 445 x 330mm, with an internal bowl of 405 x 280mm and a generous 175mm depth, deep enough to wash properly in without splashing over the front.

With the rim hidden under the stone, the benchtop runs unbroken right to the edge of the bowl. There is no lip catching water or toothpaste, and cleaning the bench means wiping straight into the basin. It is the cleanest of the mounting styles to live with, and the reason undermounts dominate in stone topped vanities.

There is no rim sitting proud to catch water, toothpaste or grime, which makes an undermount the easiest basin style to keep clean: you simply wipe straight off the bench into the bowl.

Installation is the thing to plan for. The vanity top has to be cut and the cut edge polished, so undermounts suit engineered stone, natural stone, sintered stone and solid surface tops rather than laminate. The basin is clipped and glued from below before the top is set, which means the decision needs to be made before the benchtop is fabricated, not after.

With no rim on the bench, tapware sits either on the stone behind the basin or on the wall. Both work; wall mounted tapware keeps the bench completely clear and reinforces the seamless look that made you choose an undermount in the first place. Finish with a 32mm pop up waste.
