Description
The Lotus Kitchen Mixer takes the Lotus single lever design to the kitchen sink. The spout rises in a high arc, about 300 to 320mm above the bench, so tall pots and stacked dishes fit underneath, and it swivels a full 360 degrees to serve both bowls of a double sink or swing clear of the basin altogether. The reach is about 207mm, which puts the water over the middle of a standard bowl.
The body is solid brass with a ceramic disc cartridge, so the lever moves smoothly with one hand and shuts off cleanly, and it mounts through a single hole in the sink or benchtop with flexible braided hoses. It comes in Chrome and Matt Black. The Matt Black finish is applied over the brass and stands up to the wipe downs a kitchen tap takes every day. If you are running the same finish through the house, it matches the Lotus basin and shower mixers in the bathroom.

Choosing a kitchen mixer
The kitchen tap gets used more than any other tap in the house, so the two things to get right are height and swivel. A high arc spout gives you room to fill a stockpot or rinse a baking tray without tilting it, and a full swivel lets the spout serve a second bowl or move out of the way when you are washing something large. Fixed spout mixers like this one are the simplest and most reliable option, with nothing to pull out or retract.
Check the space above the sink before you order. A 320mm spout needs clearance under a window sill or an overhead cupboard, and if the sink sits in front of a window, allow room for the spout to swing without hitting the glass. Also check the sink has a tap hole, or that the benchtop behind it can take one, and that the hole is at least 35mm across.
Finish comes down to the rest of the kitchen. Chrome matches stainless steel sinks and appliances. Matt Black suits black sinks, black handles and dark benchtops, and hides water marks better than chrome does.
