Description
The Petra Flute Lux Gloss White Freestanding Bath is the Petra rectangular bath with a textured exterior. Fine vertical flutes run around the three exposed sides, catching the light and giving the bath a ribbed, tactile finish, while the flat back sits against the wall as before. Inside it is the same smooth gloss white bathing well with squared corners and a gentle backrest slope at both ends.
It comes in 1500mm and 1700mm lengths. The 1500 x 750mm has a 1000mm long bathing well and 445mm of water depth; the 1700 x 800mm has a 1180mm long well and 435mm of depth. Both are 580mm high overall. The shell is reinforced acrylic and the 50mm centre waste connects through the floor. There is no overflow outlet, so the bath takes a no overflow plug and waste. The fluting is moulded into the shell, not applied, so it is as durable as the rest of the bath and cleans the same way.

Fluted baths in a modern bathroom
Fluting is a way to add texture to a room without adding colour. A plain white bath in a plain white bathroom can look flat; the same bath with vertical ribs picks up light and shadow across its face and gives the eye something to rest on. It pairs naturally with fluted vanity fronts, ribbed glass and vertical tiles, and it sits just as well against a flat tiled wall as the one detail that carries the room.
The flutes are on the outside only. The bathing well is smooth, so there is nothing to catch soap or make the inside harder to clean. On the outside, a soft cloth follows the grooves easily and the gloss finish does not hold water marks the way a matte one does.
Fitting is the same as the smooth Petra: tile and seal the wall first, rough in the waste to the drawing, sit the bath against the wall and silicone the back edge. Like the smooth Petra it has no overflow, so use a no overflow waste. Because the exposed sides are the feature, leave a little more space than usual on the entry side so they can be seen.
