Esta Freestanding Bath – No Overflow

Description

The Esta Freestanding Bath No Overflow is the same oval freestanding tub as the standard Esta, made without the overflow hole near the rim. Everything else is identical: the smooth gloss white shell, the rounded interior with a backrest slope at both ends, the 580mm height and the 450mm deep bathing well. It is the version to choose when the plumbing layout cannot take an overflow drain, or when you simply prefer the clean, uninterrupted inside face.

It comes in 1500mm and 1700mm lengths. The 1500mm is 740mm wide and suits ensuites and family bathrooms; the 1700mm is 800mm wide with a longer bathing well for a main bathroom. The shell is reinforced acrylic and the 50mm centre waste connects through the floor. Because there is no overflow, the bath needs a plug and waste made for a no overflow bath, and the fill is controlled by the person running it.

Why choose a bath with no overflow

The overflow is the small hole near the top of a bath that drains water away if the bath is left filling. It is useful insurance, but it also needs its own drain line running down the outside of the bath to the waste, and on a freestanding bath that pipe has to fit inside the shell and be connected through the floor. In some renovations there is no room for it, or the floor cannot be opened up enough to make the connection.

A no overflow bath removes that constraint. The only plumbing is the centre waste, the inside of the bath is one clean surface, and the rim can sit lower if you want a deeper soak. The trade off is that nothing stops the bath from overfilling, so it suits households that run the bath and stay with it rather than a busy family bathroom with young children.
