Rectangular above counter basin in gloss white vitreous china with a slim, straight sided bowl. Sits on the vanity or stone top with only a waste hole below. No tap hole, so it pairs with a wall mixer or a tall basin mixer. Pop up waste sold separately.

Description

The Above Counter Rectangular Basin is a slim, straight sided vessel basin in gloss white vitreous china. It sits on top of the vanity or a stone bench rather than in a cutout, so the top runs unbroken beneath it and the basin stands as a simple white block against the joinery. The rectangular shape suits flat panel vanities and large format tiles, and the fine rim keeps the look light.

No tap hole is drilled. Mount a wall mixer and spout above the basin or set a tall basin mixer into the vanity top beside or behind it. The only cut in the vanity top is a 32mm hole for the waste, so the same basin works on china, laminate and stone tops. Sizes are on the drawing in the Downloads tab.

Features

  • Vitreous china, gloss white glaze
  • Slim rectangular bowl with straight sides
  • Above counter mounting, waste hole only
  • No tap hole, suits a wall mixer or tall basin mixer
  • 32mm waste outlet, takes a standard pop up waste
  • Full dimensions on the drawing in the Downloads tab

Material: vitreous china, gloss white
Mounting: above counter
Tap hole: none
Waste: 32mm pop up waste, sold separately
SKU: 8016

About rectangular vessel basins

A rectangular basin on top of the bench does two things for a bathroom. It gives the vanity a focal point, because the basin is seen as an object rather than a hole in the top, and it makes the vanity top easier to fabricate, because the only cut is the waste hole. That is why vessel basins are so common on stone and on timber look tops where a large cutout would show a raw edge.

The tap needs more thought than with an inset basin. Because the rim is above the bench, a standard basin mixer will not clear it. Either use a tall mixer, which puts the spout at the right height from the bench, or take the tap to the wall, which keeps the bench clear and works with any vanity depth. In both cases aim the spout at the centre of the bowl.

Set the basin so its back edge is far enough from the wall to wipe behind, seal it to the top with silicone once the waste is in, and match the waste finish to the tap.
